Another milestone!

Oh my goodness, I did it!!!
I thought I would never manage to reach the 65k milestone since I have to leave much earlier today on account of the painting class and a snowstorm that would make it much more difficult to get there... So I opened my document this morning thinking 'Ok, I'll just write whatever I can, no matter how far I get." And still, I DID IT!!!
I broke the 65k barrier!!! :D
I wrote 1 031 words this morning and I've reached 65 001 words total!! :D (Ok, I'm siting on the barrier but still, I made it to it! ^_^)

I don't have much time to plan for an excerpt so I'll just post the scene you've already read, Rach. Sorry... You can re-read it and swoon some more at Quint if you want! ^_^

Alright, I'm off! Be good! :P
Byebye!
---------------------------------------------------

But the happy feeling fleeted away very fast when she crossed Quinton’s gaze again: he knew!
“Nimë said that, the reason she told you about it was to ease your mind… Now, I may be ‘just a guy’, supposedly far less complex than a woman, and stars know how you girls can be a real enigma to me, but if I’m not mistaken, you have something you’d like to tell me.”
Wrong, thought Ulie. I would never want to tell you! She pretended to take an interest in what the others were doing around the clearing but Quinton grabbed her chin between his thumb and his index finger and raised her face toward his, forcing her to look at him. He held her really close to him, invading her space as the town crier would, but the fire burning in his stunning grey eyes had nothing to do with the wild one she had seen in Xeres’s eyes! It was… kinder, more empathic. Hurt, even?
Still, she was astonished to find that, even though Xeres and him were really different, she wanted them the same way.
And once again, the wish for a kiss resurfaced. But it looked like, once again, Ulie would not get it for all Quinton did was talk.
“Look,” he said to her, his breath softly brushing her lips, “I’m not a nice guy to fall for." He tied his gaze to hers. "I don’t shelter a kind and pure heart like yours. I can be an awful lot of bad news… You can ask Hane about it! I don’t have a nice past and stars only know what kind of future I’ll get. I… spell trouble. You’re better off with someone else. Trust me.”
OK, if he doesn’t know women all that well, thought Ulie, how is it he knows exactly what to say to make us wanna kiss him?!
She could have just let the moment pass by but a thought entered her mind: had she not just told herself that it might be time for her to forget Xeres? Quinton was something else. He was more… adult. He probably would not be interested in an inexperienced, naïve little teenager. Perhaps it was time to act more mature. And adults aren’t afraid of anything, right? Adults don’t let thoughts bother them or hold them back. Adults act.
Maybe it was time for Ulie to put her fears of rejection, her thoughts of ridicule and all other teenage matters aside. Maybe it was time for Ulie to act…
She lowered her gaze at Quinton’s lips and sketched a move forward, clearly signifying her intention of kissing him. With his face so close to hers and her chin held between his fingers, there was no way he did not get the message!
He moved in closer; he had indeed gotten the message!
Ulie’s eyes widened in surprise. Oh my stars! He’s going to kiss me!
     Quinton closed his eyes.
Oh my stars! Oh my stars! Oh my stars!
But he let out a loud sigh and simply let his forehead thud against Ulie’s.
“I’m serious,” he said. “I’m bad news… And so is Xeres.” He opened his eyes and dove deeply into Ulie’s gaze. “Stay away from us.”
He was not kidding around. His words did not sound like a demand or a request: they were an order, plain and simple! And to show how serious he was, Quinton quickly backed up and walked away. Ulie noticed that, unlike with Xeres, when Quinton abandoned her after teasing her she was not aching… She simply felt angry at him for some reason. She had half a mind in running after him, tripping him to the ground, sitting on his chest so he could not walk away anymore and forcing a kiss on him! There! No more teasing and wishing and hoping and anticipating...!
But Hane and Kaylia were back with breakfast. Ulie sighed her anger away. A little food will get my mind off of things.

Aaaaw I'm so glad you liked my excerpt!!! ^_^ I'm usually not the "fluffy" kinda writer, but dunno, with this story, it just came out all by itself! o_O

  2. Another milestone shot out of the water, way to go Vals!! I can almost feel the ending of the story coming closer and I kinda hate that - but I'm super excited for what you've accomplished in so little time. You just ooze with professionalism :P

I seriously love how you keep teasing Ulie with different men. She gets to agitated and it's fun to read! And again I can't help but compare myself with Ulie. I can also be so emotional, with raging thoughts. But seriously - the thought of breakfast or food can TOTALLY take my mind off of it. So I liked that little comment at the end :P
