A day gone by...

Very short message today as the day has already flown by without me noticing!

I did not write much today but I intend to spend most of tomorrow on reaching the next milestone: 70k words!
The book is nearing the end (80k words). So far, I've got like three more scenes I wanna cram in there that will connect the dots between the Ulie's first fight scene and the steamy scene I've already posted here and then, it's a wrap... Well, a first draft wrap anyway! :P
Still will need some proofreading and some beta-reading! ^_^ (Got my beta-readers ready and super excited about it!! Makes me SO happy!!!! :D Like, my book is already good enough for them to eagerly await the moment they'll be able to devour it whole! ^_^ Thank you so much, girls!)

So, there's no word count worth mentioning today and let me see if I can dig up an excerpt from what I wrote yesterday....
Yeah, I can give you a little something to munch on. :)
We're really nearing the end!! (The first volume of Terra Fae is called Onlath which is the continent where all the characters live. The second volume is called Wairu which is the name of the second continent they will have to cross to reach Terra Fae. Sooooo... Yep, you guys guessed it right: once they leave Onlath, the novel is over! And now, they're pretty close to it! ^_^)
Happy reading!
----------------------------------

The group left soon after while the sun was still early rising in the sky.
“We should get to the docks sometime this afternoon and from there, we will embark on a vessel that will bring us to Wairu,” explained Nimë.
Ulie felt excitement tingle in her head: Wairu? Really?! She was going to see the Wild Continent? She, the predictable, boring teenager was really going to embark on such an amazing journey?! She was going to witness decors she thought she could only see in her dreams! The desert plains, the savannah, the boiling lakes, the snow-covered mountains… She was going to see Wairu!!
Had she been alone, she probably would have run or skipped all the way to the docks but seeing as she was in public, she kept her excitement to herself.
Everyone stepped in a line and they entered the forest. Around noon, hands looked in bags for the leftover meat from breakfast and passed it around, never stopping the march, as if eating was a simple matter of fueling up the engine.
The group walked fast and conversations were kept to a minimum. Oddly, Ulie did not mind the silence today for she had enough of her thoughts twirling in her head without adding the thoughts of the other members of the group. She spent most of the time trying to choose which crush she would pursue but ended up giving up with a not-so-cheery thought in the likes of ‘Why do I bother? Neither of them is interested in me anyway.’
Feeling her mood drop, Ulie stepped behind Hane and the others as they started to climb a grassy, small hill.
“The docks are on the other side,” informed Nimë, panting under the effort.
Once atop, they all saw that she was right. Forest may be stretching behind them but in front of them – at about fifteen minutes walking distance – was the vast ocean… and what was left of the western port.
Charred buildings and sunk boats sticking out of the water stood where the docks were supposed to be.
“Uh… Nimë?” asked Ulie. “Is this –”
“No, it’s not normal!” barked the pretty woman.
The whole gang ran down the hill and towards the burnt down, deserted area, hoping to find survivors or, at the very least, an explanation for all of this! But soon, it dawned on them that they would never know… and that they had no more way of reaching the Wild Continent!

  1. I'm so proud that your book is nearing the end of its first draft so quickly, that's amazing! I believe you can hit all your milestones without any problems. So this excerpt is near the end of the story, right? I can smell a huge reveal and cliffhanger waiting for me at the end of the story - which is both awesome and evil! None of the characters I've met so far are really evil, so the only person to burn down a town must be a real villain! Dunn dun dah!!

    1. Aaaaw thanks so much!! I hope you're right and I can blast this novel out of the water before Christmas like I have hoped!! :D
hihi yep, we're nearing the end of the book and no, there won't be a gigantic cliffhanger. I won't reveal who is bad yet... All I can say is that, so far, I've got three 'evil' characters (plus the mage, of course) and you've met them all! ^_^
      Dunn dun daaaaah!! ;)
